The area of the engine under the intake manifold (AKA "Valley Of Death") is known to collect a lot of junk over the years, sometimes old, acidic engine coolant which can very quickly eat through the aluminum crank case and destroy your engine. My plan of attack was to remove the intake manifold and spend some time cleaning the VOD and painting it with POR-15 to protect this area from further attack. As you can see it is VERY dirty down there despite the fact this is a low mileage car. There had clearly been a coolant leak at some point so it was good I took this precaution. While in there all new O-Rings and silicone hoses were installed so this job would not have to be redone for many years.
